Clone Stamp Tool for copying and repairing areas in Photoshop
The Clone Stamp Tool samples pixels from one part of an image and lets you paint those pixels over another area. It is useful for duplicating details and for simple photo repairs such as covering a spot with nearby texture.
Select the Clone Stamp Tool
Select the Clone Stamp Tool from the toolbar. To choose a source area, hold Alt and click the part of the image you want to sample. Then move to the target area and paint or click to copy the sampled pixels.
Identify the area to repair
In this example, the image contains a dark spot that we want to cover with a nearby clean area.
Sample a clean area
Hold Alt and click a clean area whose texture and color are suitable for covering the unwanted spot. This sets the Clone Stamp source.
Paint over the unwanted spot
Move to the unwanted area and apply the sampled pixels. For natural-looking repairs, choose a brush size that fits the area and resample nearby texture when necessary.
